Growing older gracefully can be better achieved by living a healthy and vital life. It is no mystery how nutrition promotes this graceful transition. Clinical studies and current scientific data indicate specific nutrients will promote longevity and provide anti-aging qualities.
When I was initially researching ingredients to add to our Longevity formula™ the same basic ingredients repeatedly came to light. Creating the formula became a rather straight-forward process and the result was a simple combination of raw materials that truly reflect the name, Longevity formula.
The nutritional ingredients of each capsule contain 200 milligrams of Alpha-Lipoic acid, 50% Resveratrol, and Acetyl-L-carnitine. Also, 100 milligrams of Coenzyme Q-10 are added along with 15 milligrams of the potent anti-inflammatory Serrapeptase. Biotin is also utilized to increase life spans.
Within the cell, 30% of the total coenzme Q-10 is found in the nucleus and is a cofactor in numerous metabolic pathways, such as the production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate) responsible for energy production. Acetyl-L-carnitine is the most important carnitine ester and plays an important function in lipid metabolism and energy production (ATP).
Alpha-lipoic acid is a potent antioxidant and is involved in carbohydrate metabolism as well as the production of ATP. One of the common complaints we hear from aging patients is that their energy level is not what it used to be (“my get up and go, got up and went”). By increasing ATP levels the loss in energy can often be corrected. Alpha-lipoic acid helps maintain healthy glucose metabolism, supports the nervous system and provides nutritional support for healthy liver function.
Resveratrol decreases the activity of cytokines, which suggests a mechanism for reducing mortality in cardiovascular diseases and cancer. A belief that is becoming widely accepted in medicine today is that disease often begins due to the inflammatory process.
Whole foods, buying organically-grown foods whenever possible, drinking eight glasses (8 oz glass) of pure water a day, paying attention to what we eat, exercising regularly and loving yourself unconditionally are other key components to enjoying the passage of time and remaining more healthy.
Yours in health, Dr. Jim
